Finding Freedom: Men’s Recovery Group

It can be really hard to face addictive or repetitive behaviour patterns on your own. The Men’s Recovery Group is a completely safe space to seek the help of others in order to gain freedom from unhelpful habits. We asked a recent participant to tell us about his experience.

“I went on the men’s recovery course last year as I wanted to seek help in battling with masturbation and pornography which I struggled regularly with.

The Men’s Recovery Group is wonderfully refreshing as it shows that this particular struggle is not simply always a moral issue. The course highlights biological, emotional, and psychological causes as well as spiritual issues which may lay behind the repetitive lapses or addiction.

Although at first the course was challenging, it became both healing and liberating to share with other guys in the room who were also struggling with the same kind of things, and to hear them share without feeling judged. It made me realise I wasn’t the only one with this issue and the support that the course cultivated was so encouraging. I also learned how we need each other’s support in the fight against these patterns of behaviour.

The course has been a major milestone. It has given me various helpful tools to fight these difficult patterns of behaviour, and support from others as well as support from God.

If you are battling with similar struggles in your life and want to walk in freedom, be prepared to take a step and go to Men’s Recovery!”
