Prayer of Intercession

Today, we have chosen to fast in order to draw closer to God, to be even more aware of His presence with us and our need for Him.

As we continue our fast, we stop to consider the world around us. We will use this time to pray for others, as we long for God to intervene on their behalf.

Take a moment now to be still, to slow your breathing, and revel in the silence. Allow yourself to be aware of God’s presence with you.

Listen to the Holy Spirit; what person comes to mind at this moment? In what way do they need God’s presence the most? As you recall them, bring them before the Lord in prayer now.

Heavenly Father,

My physical hunger at this time points to a greater longing for your presence. As the deer longs for streams of water, my soul longs for you, the living God.

May your presence fill each corner of my life – my home, my work/study, my family and friends, and this city. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

God of mercy, I particularly call to mind those who are in need of Your presence today…

I eagerly await the day when your Son Jesus Christ will return in power and glory to make all things new.

Amen
