Prayer of Consecration

Today, we engage in the spiritual practice of fasting. We choose to forgo the physical comfort of food in order to draw closer to God, to be even more aware of His presence with us and our need for Him.

Take a moment now to be still, to slow your breathing, and revel in the silence. Allow yourself to be aware of God’s presence with you.

How are you feeling about fasting today? Peaceful? Anxious? However you might be feeling, allow those emotions to rise to the surface.

Now, picture yourself handing them over to God, our loving father and friend. In Him, we are secure and provided for in every way.

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father,

As I begin my day of fasting and prayer,
I look to you, the sustainer of our faith and our bodies.

I surrender my day and my appetite, both physical and spiritual, to you, knowing that I live not on bread alone but on your every word.

I thank you for your son, Jesus Christ, the bread of life, who satisfies my hunger and thirst. May this day of fasting draw me closer to him.

Amen

The Mirror

James 1
The sermon on James 1 and Romans 8 examines how we perceive ourselves. While social media and perfectionism can provide distorted reflections, Scripture acts as the “”true mirror,”” revealing that we are icons made in God’s image. By rejecting lies of inadequacy and embracing our adoption as children of “”Abba,”” we can understand that identity is a gift to be received, not a status to be constructed.

Nehemiah 5:1-19
This series focuses on Nehemiah, an Israelite official who is given permission to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. It’s a story of resilience and faithfulness in the face of resistance and fear, as Nehemiah and a remnant of God’s people persist in carrying out God’s vision of renewal in their city. Nehemiah reminds us that we all have a unique contribution in serving God and seeking Him for the renewal of London.
