From time to time we let you know about crises that are affecting our brothers and sisters in Newfrontiers churches around the world.
The most recent news comes from Edward Buria, who is once again facing crisis among his churches due to severe drought in Kenya. Extracts from recent text messages and phone calls reveal the following:
- Currently 1.6million Kenyans are receiving food aid to compensate for the drought, but the government expects that could rise to 5million by March. Samburu is particularly badly affected
- Two members of one Newfrontiers church in Samburu recently died of starvation
- It is estimated that 27m livestock are at risk, and food prices have risen by up to 50%
- Edward recently met with senior leaders from many churches, and together they have plans to work towards sustainable solutions, as well as meeting the immediate crisis needs
Once again there is opportunity to support our brothers and sisters, particularly in Samburu, which has been severely affected.
